Juniors

ACT

Juniors:  We encourage ALL 4 year college-bound students to take the ACT at some point during their junior year. Testing in the junior year permits an early introduction to the tests with ample opportunities to re-test later.  Research shows that over 57% increase their composite scores on a retest, so if you plan to take the ACT, commit to retaking it at least once.  Colleges & scholarship organizations use your best score. Therefore, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain if you test during the Junior year and then retake at least once, perhaps more. Becoming familiar with the content and format of the test questions is one of the best preparations for the test.

Test Prep Options:

A John Baylor Test Prep course will be offered during the 1st semester for Juniors.

MAP Testing

Northeast Community College will accept the results of the MAP test for class placement and scholarship consideration.  There is no charge, and it is an un-timed, computerized test.  The MAP test can be given in Hartington.  See Mr. Bengston for more details.

College Campus Visits
The fall and the spring of the Junior year are excellent times to visit college campuses.  An adult should accompany their student on the campus visit.  Check the website of the colleges you are considering for the registration process.  See Mr. Bengston to pick up a sign-out sheet for your visit day, or if you have any questions.
